This training course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge to respond to an emergency situation at home or while out and about. You will learn to provide life support and the management of a casualty of any age until the arrival of medical assistance.
This course teaches special techniques for children and infants so is ideal for new mums and all parents who want to be prepared with the skills and confidence to respond without hesitation in the case of an emergency.
Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

- Assessing the situation
- Basic life support – DRSABCD
- Infection control
- Performing CPR
- Appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Care of the unconscious person
- Allergic reaction
- Bleeding control
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Respiratory distress, including Asthma
There are no prerequisites for this basic life support course.
Students can complete the theory component of this course through our online learning portal when you book with us. Once completed, students must attend a one-day practical assessment session to complete the full qualification.
The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed every 3 years, with the CPR component to be refreshed annually.
Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and a written quiz.

On successful completion of this training course, students will be issued with up to date certification – a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support.
