Course Set – HLTAID009 & UETDRRF004 (CPR/ LVR)

$130.00

The CPR and LVR course is essential if you are conducting live work or working with live switchboards. The course covers the performance of rescue procedures from a live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace.

It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedures and to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty in a range of situations. It consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in providing CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines as well as rescue procedures from an LV apparatus.

Low voltage rescue comprises responsive operations that involve the saving of life, or prevention of injury during an incident or dangerous situation.

UETDRRF004 – Perform rescue from a live LV panel

Prepare to perform rescue procedures from live LV panel
Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions and work areas are identified and obtained. (This will include the risk assessment and control measures taken by the individual performing the rescue).
Electricity isolation point is identified and labelled where appropriate. Tools and emergency equipment are checked for safety, functionality and placed in an accessible location to facilitate response and rescue according to established procedures.

Carry out rescue from live LV panel

Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed.
Workplace procedures for accessing and isolating the LV panel and removing the victim, where necessary, from contact with live apparatus are followed.

ASSESSMENT – THEORY

You will be assessed on questions detailing the knowledge requirements of the course, such as:

Emergency procedures for the rescue of a victim from a live LV panel encompassing:

– Inspection of rescue equipment

– Assessing hazards to rescuer, casualty and others

– Isolation procedures

– Safe Approach Distances (SADs) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel

ASSESSMENT – PRACTICAL

Physical demonstrations (skills)

The simulated assessment environments will reflect the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment. Skills must be demonstrated by the student working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to assess students’ skills and knowledge.

It’s important that students have knowledge of the content of this course. The assessable practical skills are listed below.

You will be assessed on performing LV panel scenario and task demonstrations to undertake:

– Conduct work observing the relevant anti-discrimination legislation, regulations, policies and workplace procedures

– Implement occupational health and safety workplace procedures and practices including the use of risk control measures

– Inspection and placement of rescue equipment

– Placement of rescue equipment

– Controlling hazards to rescuer, casualty and others

– Identification and labelling of the isolation point

– Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel

– Perform a rescue from a LV panel in accordance with workplace procedures

– Removing victim to safe location / place of safety

– Involvement of external emergency services

– DRSABCD protocol and providing first aid for a burn
